Works with any IMAP server
istorel connects to your mailbox the way an email app does: all it needs is the server address, the port and the login. There is nothing to install, on a computer or at your provider. Infomaniak, OVHcloud, Gandi, Zimbra, Dovecot, cPanel hosting and your own servers all work the same way.
So do Gmail, Google Workspace and iCloud, with an app password.
Set the schedule once
Choose hourly, daily or weekly backups and istorel takes care of the rest. Each run only fetches new messages, so a daily backup stays quick even on a mailbox with tens of thousands of emails.
If a backup fails because the server is down or the password has changed, you get an email alert.
Stored in France, across three zones
Every backup is copied to three availability zones in the same region: three separate buildings, each with its own power and network. Even if a whole datacentre went down, you would not lose any data. This is the only storage level we offer.
Storage is in France, with other regions available on request. Connections to your mail server use TLS, and each mailbox’s credentials are encrypted with a key that never leaves our environment. istorel is run from France under the GDPR, and a data processing agreement is available on request.
Backups you can browse online
Each backup keeps the folders of the original mailbox. Search by sender, subject, date or folder, in one backup or across several backups of the same mailbox.
You never need to download an archive to see what is in it.
Restore a single email
Open the message in the backup, check it is the right one, and download it as an .eml file with its attachments. It opens in any email app, with no import tool.
Deleted emails stay in the backup
An email deleted from your server stays in the backup, where you can read and download it. Backed-up emails are kept for at least two years by default, and the account administrator can choose 1, 2, 5 or 10 years for each organisation. During that time they are locked in storage and cannot be erased from the application. Only closing your account deletes them.
Each mailbox adds 100 GB of storage, shared across all the mailboxes on the account. In most cases, keeping everything costs nothing extra.
For IT providers who manage several clients
Group mailboxes by client, keep each client’s backups separate, and see every schedule and failure in one list. Volume pricing is based on all the mailboxes on your account, not client by client.
Each morning, one screen tells you whether last night’s backups went well.
Drives, coming soon
Backup for drives (WebDAV and kDrive) is in development. It will use the same console and the same schedules, and be billed alongside your mailboxes. It is not available yet.
